literature review

My literature review is on the airborne pollution caused by the increasing global use of cars. there are many pros and cons which I will talk about in my essay, and also what governments from all over the world are doing to prevent such disasters which are being caused by airbourne pollution. can the government help by using tax or some sort of policy to encourage the use on non petrol cars?

The increasing global use of cars is causing more airborne pollution, despite agreements by many governments to cut such emissions (e.g. through the Kyoto Agreement). Cars which do use non-petrol fuel sources e.g. hydrogen, solar power, battery or fuel cells, etc. have been under study for years by the car industry and are starting to attract political attention. For example, California has long had mandatory targets for sales of non-petrol vehicles, at that time former U.S. President Bush had introduced tax breaks for environmentally friendly cars. E.U. member states need to develop methods by which a wide variety of biofuels will account for 2% of all transportation fuel sold by 2005, increasing to 5.75% by 2010. (Christopher Ruane, Ireland, Tuesday, December 23, 2008  ) even though these stratedgys are relatively small part of the overall environmental problem, tackling it can be worthwhile and rewarding in some cases
